When I was a bridal consultant, I found that the diagonal wedding gowns looked terrific on any shape, because the vertical straight lines gave the illusion of a taller, and more narrow body shape. Lines can divide space and change the proportions, so you want to choose clothes with strong vertical lines in order to direct the eye up and down which lenghens and slim a figure WHERE as.......as horizontal lines can emphasize and broaden.
